School Subjects Book Tag

I haven’t done a tag or an award post or anything of the sort in ages, however I have a long list of collected tags that I was once tagged for and I’m thinking that I need to start doing them again.

I was tagged for this particular tag by three amazing bloggers Amy’s Book Corner , Kook Bookery , and A Thousand Lives I wouldn’t be surprised if they had forgotten that I was meant to participate in this tag and I’m so sorry that I haven’t done any tags in so long, but I promise to do better.

Math: A Book that left your Head Spinning in Circles

Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn

In the best of ways Sharp Objects left my head spinning. Not even because of the ending or how everything came to past, but because of the atmosphere and the writing made my stomach turn and my mind reel. Definitely a fantastic novel for sure.

English: A Book You think has Beautiful Written Expression

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

I desperately wanted to not use The Night Circus for this, because I’ve used it in so many tags from before, but I can’t help myself. The Night Circus has absolutely gorgeous writing and I am going to be forever in love with this novel.

Physics: your Favorite Scientifically Minded Character from a Book or Film

Mary from Gifted

Ever since I saw this recent film I have been wanting to gush about how amazing and beautiful it was. I don’t know why I don’t see anyone talk about it, but it made me cry and the story was incredible. Mary is one of the smartest individuals I have ever seen and I love her with all my heart. She is definitely one of my absolute favorite scientifically (mostly mathematically) minded characters ever.

Chemistry: your favorite literary couple

Ramona Blue by Julie Murphy

Ramona and Freddie from Ramona Blue are my current OTP. I absolutely adore them together and how much they make each other stronger as individuals. This book was amazing and I’m so glad I got to read it along with my book buddy Amy!!! This book is SO GOOD!

Biology: your favorite book/series/film character

You can’t make me choose for this and you will never take me alive!!! I take no favorites and I love all my precious characters. There will be no choosing here.

French: your favorite foreign book/film/program

Angel Beats!

Angel Beats is an anime show that I am absolutely in love with! It’s funny and depressing and all things good and I will always have a place in my heart for it.

Art: have you ever judged a book by its cover, even if you weren’t meant to?

Uhh… all the time. It’s kinda a problem except I don’t really think it’s truly a bad thing. Beautiful covers are things I live for and I’m happy to have so many on my shelves.

History: the last historical book you’ve read

Now I Rise by Kiersten White

At first I wasn’t really sure I had read any historical fiction recently, but then I checked my goodreads and sure enough there was Now I Rise. Such a good historical fiction with a twist and I loved it!

Geography: a literary destination you would really like to visit

Rowan Wood Legends by Olivia Wildenstein

Although none of the book takes place there there is a place where the fae live in this book called baseetogan that sounds absolutely beautiful and I think I would love to see it.

Drama: a book that has a lot of over-dramatic hype

The Wrath and The Dawn by Renée Ahdieh

I wanted to love this book. I thought for certain I would adore it. There was so much hype surrounding it and I even hyped it up for myself when I first saw it, but while it was good I just didn’t love it as much as I wanted to and for that this one earns this spot.

Well that’s all folks!

Thanks for reading! Anyone who hasn’t done this tag and wants to consider yourself tagged! Let me know what you thought of my answers and if you agree or disagree on any of them.

Narnia Book Tag

Do your eyes deceive you? For me to do a tag is like finding a rare unicorn in the wild. I don’t even remember the last time I sat down to put together a tag and for that I am terribly sorry. I have a HUGE backlist of awards and tags to do and yes, eventually I will get to all of them!

Right now the oldest of these is the Narnia Book Tag and I’m excited to finally complete it!

I was tagged by the amazing Book Shelves and Biros as well as the wonderful Creative Minds 101! Go out there and give them some love, they definitely deserve it!

NARNIA – A magical world you would like to visit

I’ve said it before and I will say it again, The Night Circus’s world is absolutely gorgeous and to be able to visit it would fill me with so much joy! Something about that Circus takes me by my heart and makes me believe in Magic once more.

THE MAGICIAN’S NEPHEW – A book you think is underrated

The Ship by Antonia Honeywell only has a Rating of  3.20 on Goodreads and I have to admit I’m pretty appalled. This book was stunning and I had rated it 5 stars and loved reading it. I’m actually kinda salty that the average rating isn’t at least a 4.0.

THE LION, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE – A classic that you love

Jane Eyre is such a lovely and enjoyable classic. I really adored it when I read it in high school.

THE HORSE AND HIS BOY – A book you picked up without knowing what it was about

I picked up Song of the Current without knowing anything except that their was ships and oh my was I pleasently surprised by this amazing novel. I adore it to pieces!

PRINCE CASPIAN – A sequel that you loved

The Mime Order was such an awesome sequel to The Bone Season. The action and feriocity of it as well as the fear and revolution made me very very happy.

THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER – A quest you’d like to be a part of

Mask of Shadows and the quest to be one of the queens personal assasians was a really cool quest to read about. I would like to be a part of it by being a helper on the side lest I be targeted and ruthlessly killed.

THE SILVER CHAIR – A book you didn’t expect to love

And I Darken was a book that I didn’t expect to love when I found that it was completely different from the story I had thought it was to be. I never thought I would love a book with so much brutality. By all accounts I feel like I shouldn’t have loved it, but every dark part of that novel calls out to me and I adored it.

THE LAST BATTLE – A perfect ending to a series you love

Bitterblue is also a book that pleasently surprised me. It was so different from Graceling and Fire, but in a really fantastic way. Let alone that it is home to one of the most beautiful pieces of writing I have ever read.

THE PEVENSIES – A siblinghood of friendship you’d love to be a part of

Zenn Diagram is a book of many adorable siblings in this novel fill my heart with joy. I still haven’t quite finished this novel, but I know one things for sure.. I love the little ones in this novel and how family oriented this book actually is.
EUSTACE SCRUBB – A character who grew on you

Celeste from The One by Kiera Cass. She was so evil to me for so long, but in this book she became human and I loved this book more for it. I know have an appreciation for Celeste as a character.

MR. TUMNUS – Your favourite mystical creature

The Dragon of Course! Image credit to the interweb.

CASPIAN – A character with regal qualities

The Bone Season’a Paige Mahoney is 100% regal and she would probably will never notice or even think about how good of a leader she could be. She is one amazing MC.

THE WARDROBE – Your favourite hideout/place to read

Anywhere is a good place to read. I feel like my special place hasn’t been found yet and I look forward to finding that place in the future.
Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoyed this swirly unicorn of a post. Hopefully I don’t wait so long to post a tag next time. Since this post was done so late I have no idea who has participated so I’m going to leave it to you to decide if your interested in participating in this tag.

Seven Deadly Sins Book Tag

It is time to participate in another awesome book tag! Thanks to Ava @ Reads, Rhythms, and Ruminations for tagging me for this. Ava is such a lovely blogger. I love her content and she is awesome all around! If you haven’t already check her out! Her blog is wonderful.

On to the tag!

GREED

What is your most inexpensive book? What is your most expensive book?

My most inexpensive book I’ve actually paid for was probably my copy of Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng that I got for 50 cents at a thrift store (a lot of my books I get for 1 dollar – 2 dollars thanks to thrift stores) The most expensive book that I own is probably my copy of Jane Steele that is worth 27 dollars.

WRATH

What author do you have a love/hate relationship with?

I wanted to say none, but then I remembered my age old hatred for a main character in one of the series I love most, Jeb from the Splintered series. I have a love/hate relationship with A.G. Howard because of it.

GLUTTONY

What book have you devoured over and over with no shame?

The Giver, I would say that The Giver is the book I have reread the most. It’s so short, but it’s too good not to reread!

SLOTH

What book have you neglected reading due to laziness?

Uhh well, mostly my arcs, and because of that a lot of the other books on my shelf. I’m a mood reader and so when I feel like I have to read a book sometimes it puts me in a mode to procrastinate.

PRIDE

What book do you talk about in order to sound like an intelligent reader?

I’d say any of the classics although I don’t really talk about them to seem intelligent more then I talk about them because I actually enjoy a lot of them.

LUST

What attributes do you find attractive in male or female characters?

I feel like putting a joke here to hide the fact that I’m kinda blushing, but you know honesty is the best policy and all that jazz. Anyway what I find attractive in a male character is a sense of mystery about them. Plus, let’s be real, I’ve fallen for so many characters that were strong, somewhat sarcastic, with a compassionate side, midnight black hair, and say just the right things. I’m such a sucker for it! *cough cough Rysand cough cough Morpheus cough cough* I guess I also really like guys who can fly and who give a lot of freedom to their love interests. Who knew?

ENVY

What book would you like to receive as a gift?

Well let’s see there is Six of Crows and Crooked Kindom or I could go with The Assasins Blade series, or physical copies of ACOTAR, ACOMAF, and ACOWAR, or even Strange the Dreamer, or All the wrath and the dawn books in their original hardcovers. What do I gotta say I got a lot of books I want to read and if I could receive them as gifts that would be incredible!

Get to Know Me Tag!

A while back I was tagged by the lovely Cuppa ‘N Critiques for this unique and interesting little tag to get to know me better. My timing feels a bit ironic because I did a get to know me post to celebrate 600 followers, but still this post feels like it’s really enjoyable to write!

Vital Stats

Name: Tiana

Nicknames: Ti, Tia, T-T, and some random ones like: Tiguana, Iguana, among others that have randomly colored my life. I’m called by random names so often that nicknames have become a part of who I am. It’s really interesting to see how many people just randomly make of names for me I really enjoy it.

Birthday: December 17th

Star sign: Sagittarius

Occupation: full-time college student

Appearance

Hair color: A darkish blonde

Hair length: longish, I used to have hair all the way down my back I cut it a couple years ago to shoulder length and now I’m growing it back. I miss my longer locks!

Eye Color: depending on the light, grey, blue, or a greenish color.

Best Feature: My eyes for sure!

Braces: These things were once the bane of my existence, but they did help me emmensly so I am grateful to have had them.

Piercings: one in each earlobe and that’s it. I want to get at least one more in each ear eventually though.

Tattoos: I don’t have any, but in a way I like to think I’d get one one day. As much as I’ve been told not to, something about having art that represents who you are permanently expressed on your body is beautiful to me. I don’t know what I would get yet, but eventually I think I’d find the perfect thing for me to have.

Right or Left: Righty..

Firsts

Real Holiday: I think this means vacation so I’m gonna say the first one I remember was to Hawaii. It was beautiful, but I was with the wrong people and so I didn’t really enjoy it as much as I should have little as I was.

Best Friend: Really and truly I don’t think I’ve ever had the experience of a real “Best Friend” As a kid I was a loner and as I got older I made friends, but whenever I moved the connection would be lost. I don’t even really like the connetation of “Best Friend” in the end I feel like it seperates people unless it’s a tried and true friendship that’s lasted over the years. Long story short, I really don’t think I have.

Award: I have old family films that tell me that would be in first grade. I honestly have no idea what it was for, but I remember the pride I felt when I got it and searching for my God family amoung what felt like a sea of parents to my small self to share the moment with them.

Sport: Figure Skating, although many don’t think of it as a sport it was something that was very special to me, something I had to give up in order to go to the middle school I needed to be in a few years later.

Concert: I haven’t been to a Concert, concert, but I have gone to see the band and show that plays at Six flags.

Favorites

Tv Show(s): Doctor Who, Sherlock, American Horror Story, Three’s Company, The Big Bang Theory… etc. etc.

Color: Tardis Blue, I love most all colors though.

Song(s): Clarity Zedd, Shape of You Ed Sheeran, Papercut Zedd, Dovregubben Zedd, literally anything by Zedd… also anything by Melanie Martinez or Purity Ring. Plus so much more!

Restaurant: The Tamale House and El Buen Gusto… both have such amazing food!

Shop: Any book stores (including thrift stores that sell books), IKEA, Sidecca (a vintage clothing store), Journey’s, and at times Fry’s Electronics.

Books: NOT THIS! There are too many books to love! For now I will put The Giver, Tess of the D’Ubervilles, A Northern Light, Ready Player One, anything Julie Kagawa writes, the Splintered series (despite its flaws), and many many more.

Shoes: Anything from Journey’s really, haven’t been able to buy from there in so long! Sheds a lone tear.

Currently

Feeling: Tired yet somehow contented, excited, and happy (but I just got half-way through ACOTAR so…)

Single or Taken: Single as I always have been. I feel like I give off some sort of back away vibe or something… I am still happy as can be. The right time will come when it comes.

Eating: Nothing, it’s midnight and there is no food in sight.

Thinking About: Life, how things end up being the way they are meant to be. Plus, ACOTAR because that book is AMAZING so far!

Watching: Peaks of a Hallmark movie my mom put on, my family never sleeps.

Wearing: A Micky Mouse pajama top and Baymax pajama pants. Disney is a love that never dies and I refuse to be ashamed.

Future

Want Children: I don’t really know, I’m not sure how good of a mother I would be and the responsibility scares the crap out of me, but at a much older age then 18 and a much different mindset and security I would probably be more open to it.

Want to be Married: It would be nice to have a husband one day, but finding the right person takes time and if I never meet the one for me then I don’t think I mind being on my own.

Careers in Mind: A writer of course! Nothing would make me happier.

Where you Want to Live: Somewhere comfortable, a place where I’m not far from humanity and near a theme park as well as museums, art, and culture. A place where I’m never too far from new and beautiful experiences.

Do you Believe in

God: yes I do. I don’t worship by going to church or anything like that, but I feel that his presence in my life is undeniable. I feel his guidance in my life even before I was born. I feel a deep connection with him especially in nature, it’s something that I feel so deeply that I can’t even explain it properly.

Miracles: Yes, it truly is a miracle that I’m even sitting where I’m sitting today.

Love at first sight: for some people yes, but for me I don’t really think so. It takes me a while to truly fall for someone (even if it’s always unrequited)

Also, for our children I would say yes, that kind of love I think is the pitiest of all.

Ghosts: I think that ghosts, spirits have a presence in our lives. There are too many unknowns out there for me not to at least wonder.

Aliens: yes, too many planets and solar systems out there for us to be the only planet with life. It is a curiosity that will probably never be dated in me.

Soul Mates: Yes, but I feel that true soulmates are the rarest form of love. My favorite way of thinking about soul mates is the red string of fate, a beautiful cord that teathers you and your soulmate by an invisible red string around your pinkies. Follow the string and you find the person your soul was meant to complete.

Heaven: Most definitely, I even have hope that our pets meet us there as well.

Hell: yes, sadly I believe there is one. To what it entails I could never fully imagine.

Kissing on the First Date: Yes… If you really like the person I don’t see anything wrong with this at all.

Yourself: Sometimes, not always, but I think that’s a spot that I’ve been steadily improved upon these past few years.

2016 Year in Review Book Tag

Well, well, well, this has been a long time coming. I’ve talked for a very long time about how behind I am in tags and well this first to show exactly how long. However, this will be the last time I meantion my lateness, because I have decided to simply go with the flow and do my posts as I feel like they should be done. I love tags, but they come out the best when I feel most like doing them, so I will do them all in time.

Anyway, let’s get on to the tag!

Thank you to Reads, Rhythms, and Ruminations and Melting Pots and Other Calamities for tagging me in this really cool end of the year review tag! They are both so amazing and have been a part of my blogging journey from the very beginning. Talking to them is amazing and I love reading their content. If you haven’t already, check out their blogs!

On to the content!

Disclaimer all books meantoned I read in 2016.

TRUMP VS CLINTON: NAME YOUR FAVORITE CHARACTER RIVALRY:

Amy Gumm vs. Dorothy Gale! These two diva just might be the rivals of the century! Dorothy Gale the girl we all know and love is a complete psychopath, and Amy Gumm the girl with the pink hair that might just be the only person in all of the world with just the right mixture of sass and compassion to deafeat the blue checkered Queen B.

TURKEY FAILED COUP: A BOOK YOU STARTED BUT FAILED TO FINISH?

Stephen King, the master of craft. One of the most celebrated of the grates of the modern horror novel. I tried to read Revival in October and just wasn’t having it. It dragged and dragged and wa not my cup of tea. I’m sorry to say, but this one was a big ole DNF.

POKEMON GO: WHAT BOOK DID YOU BUY OR READ BASED ON THE HYPE? DID YOU ENJOY IT?

The Fault in Our Stars, love it or hate it, has always been huge, along with all of John Green’s works, I have always felt a part of me wishing to read something of his. I may have missed the initial hype train, but it still very much existed in my mind and so I picked this book up. I honestly really enjoyed it! The sarcasm and the way death was discussed really spoke to me and I loved it a result!

STRANGER THINGS: WHAT’S ONE BOOK YOU WANT EVERYONE TO READ?

THIS BOOK! If you have not read this book you need to read it and I mean immediatly. This is required reading from me and I promise you that as so long as you love the circus and beautiful writing you will love this book! Thi book is an experience and it is one that I will never regret having for the rest of my life. It is STUNNING!

GAME OF THRONES, THE WALKING DEAD, MR. ROBOT: WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK CLIFFHANGER WITHIN A SERIES?

Uhh, this might just be me, but I didn’t really feel many major cliff hangers in 2016… I am sorry, but I jut can’t relate.

THE TRAGIC CRISIS IN ALEPPO: NAME THE LAST BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY OR TEARY-EYED.

Impulse by Ellen Hopkins is a book that made me cry like I hadn’t cried in a very long time. If I had read it at any other time then I did, I would have gone into a very deep depression. Thi book is hard to read, but in the end it is a truly rewarding experience.

BREXIT: NAME A BOOK YOU HAVE AN UNPOPULAR OPINION TOWARDS.

You either really enjoy this book or you hate it. I am in the realm of enjoying it. I even kinda like America the main character that many seem to really dislike. I love light and fluffy reads like this, I thought it was pretty cool!

FOUR NEW ELEMENTS DISCOVERED IN THE PERIODIC TABLE: NAME AN AUTHOR YOU DISCOVERED/READ FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS YEAR.

For the first time in my life I read Jennifer Donnelly’s books in 2016. I had my eye on her books for a very long time and when Christmas 2016 came about and I got a bunch of her books I ended up reading a lot of them and in the end one of her books A Northern Light became one of my favorite reads of all time! She is such a talented author. I love her work!

#ALLLIVESMATTER: YOUR FAVOURITE DIVERSE READ-S (tagging on that S because there are several books that need to be talked about here)

So, I read a few diverse reads in 2016, not nearly as many as I wanted to, but these are four of my favorites!

First Soundless by Richelle Mead, Soundless is such a cool book. The idea of having an entire village live without sound was amazing to me.. to further blind them broke my heart. I loved reading it and I thought it was such a cool read. I recommend you to read it if your interested in Asian folklore and complete societal disability.

Next, Blindsided by Priscilla Cummings. Blindsided was such an interesting read. I always wondered what it was like for the blind and I thought this book was super interesting. It is a pretty quick read and I really enjoyed it!

A Tragic Kind of Wonderful by Eric Lindstrom and The Weight of Zero by Karen Fortunati are both books based off bipolar disorder. I read these two a few weeks apart and I loved them both. It amazed me how human they made bipolar disorder feel and how different they both were. I 100% recommend for these two to be read!

ZIKA VIRUS: A BOOK THAT SPREAD LIKE WILDFIRE.

I never got to read this book and I am really sad about it. Sometimes I think about its black pages and sigh. I want this book so bad. I heard so much about it in 2016 and I can’t wait to get it into my hands!

LEONARDO DECAPRIO FINALLY WON THE OSCAR: WHAT WAS YOUR MOST ANTICIPATED BOOK RELEASE THIS YEAR?

The Weight of Zero came out before the end of 2016 and I was lucky enough to win a giveaway copy of it a little before its release. As I’ve meantioned above I loved this book! It is so beautiful and often times poetic and I could ramble about it for ages. This is the book I didn’t realize I was anticipating in 2016.
IN MEMORIUM: NAME A MEMORABLE CHARACTER DEATH.

I’m not gonna meantion the character that dies in this book, but oddly it affected me way more then I thought it would and I fell in love with a charter I feel like I should have. This book was amazing!

SAMSUNG PHONES: ONE BOOK THAT BLEW YOUR MIND THIS YEAR!

A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly was breathtaking and I am now going to reread it every year for Christmas! It makes me feel my love for books so strongly and I loved how all the characters were portrayed. The second book on my required reading list that you need to read ASAP!

Thanks for reading! Fun Fact: this post is the one I tried to create yesterday that disappeared. Still a little salty about it, but I promised this post was coming and I keep my promises! Let me know your thoughts on this post and I’m curious: what was your favorite diverse read of 2016? Also, What are you currently reading? I’d love to know!

I am not going to tag anyone for this because it is honestly so late to do this, but if you think it is fun and your interested feel free to participate in this tag!

The Last Time We Were Us by Leigh Konen

This book is full of drama with a capital ‘D’ The cover does not at all represent the pages inside. This book was way darker than I imagined it would be. So much happened it’s unbelievable.

Music Emoji 🎶🎶🎶

This Beats Perfect by Rebecca Denton

This book seems like it’s going to be so cool! I’ve had a copy of it since January, but I hadn’t been able to get to it yet. I love that every chapter has a song for a heading and I am excited to see what it holds!

The Dagger Emoji 🗡🗡🗡

Graceling by Kristin Cashore

Graceling is such an amazing novel. It has everything I could ever ask for. An amazing heroine who can take care of herself. A beautiful backdrop with a mixture of terrain and weather. Plus, some incredible side characters that tie the story together. I love everything about this book. Talking about it know makes me want to re-read it immediately. I’m so sad I can’t thanks to the netgalley challenge. There is always next month.

Dreamy Book Covers Tag

I am so excited to announce that I have created my own little book tag!!!! This is really cool for me since this is the first one I have ever created and it’s ironic, because I have conceded to forever being terribly behind on tags, (which is fine by the way, If you have tagged me for something and I haven’t done it yet, I WILL do it eventually! I have so many posts I love to write and tags are so much fun to do, it will just be a long while.) Anywho, Lets move along with the tag!

The Rules:

1. Thank the lovely person who tagged you, spread the love!

2. Meantion me Tiana @ The Book Raven as the (insert adjective here) creater of this book tag!

3. Use the original tag image in your post. (However, Feel free to add whatever other graphics your heart desires!)

4. At least tag 1 fellow blogger for this tag. Even if your like me sometimes and feel a bit lazy 😉

5. List the rules

Have fun! (Not a rule but a hope, I am so proud of this little tag, I honestly hope you enjoy it!)

The Tag:

“No Ideas But in Things” A book cover that perfectly expresses the novel inside it

The Night Circus cover perfectly encapsulates the stunning beauty of the novel inside it with a minimalistic design with all the color elements The Night Circus is centered on. I adore this cover!

“Dark and Lovely” A book cover that is so creepalicious you just want to eat it up

The Dead House is hauntingly beautiful and its cover is too. I remember the day I walked into Barnes & Nobel and saw this book for the first time, the cover stopped me in my tracks, couple of months later and the book was on my shelves. I love it!

“Sugary Sweet” A cute cover that is so fluffy you want to give it a hug

This cover is so adorable to me as well as gorgeous! I love the hand drawn aesthetic and this one has a beautiful touch of that. I need this cover on my shelves!

“The Simple Aesthetic” A book cover that stuns with the most minimalistic of design

I Have No Secrets stands out and it does it simply with contrast and silhouette. I love how much this cover packs a punch without any over complicated design.

“Cover Envy” A book cover you wish you had on your shelves, but don’t yet

This cover is breathtaking, all I know is this book needs to be on my shelves and it needs to be there right now.

“Traveling Abroad” A beautiful book cover featuring a country outside of your own

I live in America and so I choose Anna and the French Kiss, because it is a beautiful display of color with a touch of what makes France so appealing. It’s simple and pretty.

“The Color Wheel” A cover that showcases one of your favorite colors

Another cover set in France, I swear I didn’t plan this. I just love the way two of my favorite colors Dark Blue and Gold work together so beautifully in this cover. In person this cover is even prettier. The digital version doesn’t do it justice.

“Switching Gears” A cover change you absolutely adore

I am so glad the Throne of Glass covers were changed. I absolutely gravitate towards the covers as they are now with this fiery artistic murduerous female in the front vs. a simple pretty girl. Plus the backs of the cover changed versions are so cool as well!

“Oldie but Goodie” A favorite cover of your favorite classic

I think this cover for Tess of the D’Ubervilles is so cool! It’s dark and gothic and it captures the sadness of the book quite well. I love how much it grabs my attention.

“And the Winner is…” Which book cover meantioned above is your favorite?

If this cover didn’t exist it would have been so much harder to pick a favorite from the ones I meantioned. This cover is too stunning for words. It speaks for itself. (It also makes me want to get a tattoo XD)

‘What Cats Do’ Book Tag

A huge thanks to the creator of this cute kitty book tag Melting Pots & Other Calamities for tagging me and coming up with such an adorable little tag. Also thanks to Brilliantly Bookish for tagging me. Both of them are such incredible bloggers and if you haven’t checked them out please do so right now! I will be here waiting.

Are you back? Good!

Now on to the tag featuring one of my favorite spirit animals: (with a bit of a classic twist)

Purr – As cats do this when they’re happy or relaxed, what is the book that makes you happiest or relaxed?

Reading The Giver for me is like eating comfort food. It is one of my all-time favorite books and it feels like home to me. It makes me so happy every time I read it!

Sleep – What is a book that put you to sleep or was just boring?

The Power and the Glory by Graham Greene

I read this book for Ap English my senior year of high school and it was one that made me pretty sleepy. It wasn’t the worst book I’ve ever read, but it was pretty boring.

Seems to Play Nice…Until the Claws are Out – Which book had the biggest plot twist?

I did not expect a lot of the emotion that poured out of me thanks to this book. My favorite classic does not play around. The ending in particular was one of the most shocking times I have ever felt. I love this book! I cry for this book, but I love this book.

Cuddles – Which book character would you give a hug to?

Hassan from The Kite Runner

Hassan deserves more then a hug. All I want to do is take him from all his problems and protect him from all that has threatened to harm him.

Catnip – What’s a book that made you have warm and fuzzy feels?

Now I know I’ve created this tag around classics, but I really feel like The Night Circus has an old soul and the beauty of it is far too breathtaking and warm that I couldn’t help myself, but to meantion it here.

Cat Breeds – What are your favorite books?

Here are some of my favorite classics! I definitely have other favorites in other genres, but going with my self-imposed theme these are some of my absolute favorites.

Getting the Cat – How did you find your favorite book(s)?

All of these books were either bought off an older student in high school or purchased from the thrift store. (Honestly a lot of the books I own are found in thrift stores! I love finding lost treasures!)

The Vet’s Office – Your least favorite book:

The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane

This book is complete and utter torture. I read every single agonizing word of it in middle school. My hatred of this book knows no bounds.

Being in Places They Shouldn’t – Least favorite cliche:

The cheerleader going out with the jock… nothing makes me want to roll my eyes more. This is level of cheese that even I cannot stand. All it is, is a recipe for bad.

Final Question: The Good Old Cardboard Box – Most underrated book series:

I feel like The Giver series is like a secret series that man has yet to fully discover. I learned of its existence about a year ago. I have yet to read them all but as soon as I find copies this will be way up high on my tbr. Plus, I can’t help but meantion The Giver twice. That book has all of my heart.

2016/2017 tag

Ohh my goodness! Is this a tag post?!?! I can’t believe my eyes. I don’t know what has been keeping me away from one of my favorite kinds of posts to write, but I gotta say, it’s good to write one once more! It has been so long in fact that I got tagged for this post by three different lovely bloggers: A Wee Bit Eccentric whose blog astetic I love! Blame it on Chocolate Who is just so sweet and lovely. I feel so happy whenever I see her posts, there always fun to read! Finally, The Uncharted Word whose blog is so simple and pretty that it really lets her words shine through!

To the Rules:

  • Mention the creator of this tag.
  • Use the image that you find in this tag.
  • Mention the blogger that chose you.
  • Answer the questions.
  • Mention 9 other bloggers/friends and let them know through a comment on their blog.

Questions:

1. Describe your 2016 in three words

Weird, exciting, moody

To November: WTF
2. Write the names of two people that have characterized your 2016.

My mom and my sister, I don’t think I could have gotten through 2016 or any year prior without their constant support and guidance. 2016 was a difficult year, 2017 looks like it will be even harder. I am so glad to have them both by my side through it all.
3. Write the most beautiful place you’ve visited in 2016 and why you liked it so much.

Uhh… I didn’t go anywhere… my life was graduation and getting ready for college and I didn’t go anywhere that was particularly beautiful. Does Six Flags Magic Mountain at Christmas time count?
4. Write the most delicious food you’ve tasted in 2016.

Fajitas!!!!! I love fajitas and I tried them for the first time last year! Probably one of the best things that happened last year was when that tortilla covered chicken touched my mouth. Delicious!
5. Write the event which has marked you more of this in 2016 (even a global event).

I could say so many different things here, but I think the biggest thing would be Trump’s presidency. A piece of me died when he won. It opened my eyes to reality and the power of the voice more then anything had in recent memory. The amount of backlash and the beauty of all the protests that have passed have given me so much inspiration and hope. I have been more motivated to do good in this world then I ever have been.
6. Write the finest purchase you’ve made in 2016, and, if you want, link a photo.

My bookshelves! I finally got bookshelves last year from ikea and I am so happy I got them! I can finally see what books I have and they are no longer in a dungeon I have to excavate from just to read a book.
7. Write three good intentions for this 2017.

Write a book

Write a book

Write a book

Wait that’s just one thing!

How about: do more writing, write stories, and write poetry.

Still the same thing?

How about: write stuff, be a better person, and help out as much as I can?

That’s better right?

Did I meantion I intend to write stuff?

I did?! Ok. Just making sure.
8. Write a place you want to visit in 2017.

Indie stores and museums in downtown la, I live so close to la and I just need to make it a point to go and see all it has to offer.
9. Write one plate/food you want to eat in 2017.

I’m going to say the one dish I never wanted to try in 2017 that I tried a few days ago. Sweet and Strong, an Italian Futurist dish I had to make and try for my modern art class for extra credit. This sandwhich consists of: buttered bread, bananas, mustard, and anchovies (ANCHOVIES!) whatever you do, do not eat this dish, it is disgusting. Thank God I only had one bite. It was the worst food I’ve ever had, and I had to make it myself.

The Amsterdam Book Tag

Thank you to Eliza from Dusk Angel Reads for tagging me for this fun tag! Eliza has a lovely entertaining blog with a beautiful purple aesthetic. Check out her most recent post here!

WHY DO WE HAVE SO MANY CHEESE STORES IN ONE STREET? — A CHEESY READ.

You either love or hate the selection for the most part, for a lot of people this book is somewhat annoying and a bit cheesy. Personally I enjoy a bit of cheese every now and then.

CANAL PARADE — A BOOK THAT CELEBRATES THE LGBT-COMMUNITY.

This book is one of my most Anticipated reads for 2017 and I love all that it represents. I haven’t read this one yet, but I am looking forward to holding this book in my hands.

ANNE FRANK HOUSE — A BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY.

This book broke my heart, it is one of those books that make you wonder if the author was trying to say there is no hope for something better in life. Yet, I love this book. It is my favorite classic and I will defend it always.

MUSEUM SQUARE — AN ARTSY BOOK.

Jane Steele has such a gorgeous cover I can’t take it. I bought it recently and I can’t wait to read its pages. Plus, I could never resist a Jane Eyre retelling.

PIGEONS, PIGEONS EVERYWHERE — AN ANNOYING CHARACTER.

Mr. Jebadiah Holt from the Splintered series gets on my nerves so completely that I just can’t stand him. By now, many of you may know of my love for the Splintered series and how it will never end, but at the same time, I wish Jeb would have never existed, my vendetta still stands strong! (I could never hate pigeons though, they are too cute!)

RED WHITE BLUE — RECREATE THE DUTCH FLAG USING BOOKS.

P.s. Before doing this tag I was mesmerized by all the beautiful photographs of Amsterdam I found online. It made me want to instantly transport there and enjoy all the history and culture of a place I didn’t know much about. I am so happy I got to participate if only for the wanderlust this tag provided.

Thank you all for reading. Let me know your thoughts down in the comments! I love conversing with all my fellow bookworms.
