Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there! I hope you are having a wonderful and joyous day.

It’s rare for me to get a picture with my mom so this is a special treat from her birthday in February. She is a strong woman in mind and in spirit. I see a lot of that willfulness in myself being raised by her. I love when she laughs and complains about something in a childlike voice. Or when she picks on me when I go to hug her till I laugh.

She always makes sure that me and my sister are taken care of and I appreciate that about her very much. She has a beautiful soul. I love her very much.

I hope everyone is enjoying Mother’s Day in whatever way you all enjoy it within your families. Weather with it’s with your actual mother or just an important woman in your life that you know deserves to be celebrated.

Books of Christmas Future

In the future, I wonder what I will see?

Underneath my Christmas tree.

Will there be wars fought and treaties won?

Will there be hearts coming together in spite of it all?

Will there be cyber bodies risking it to the end?

Will there be magic with a reality twist?

Will there be horrors to celebrate?
Or will there be trips to the past that we can’t escape?

Will there be stories of contemporary connections?

And will there be other points of view to consider?

I know that whatever it is to be the case, I will love all the books that come my way!

Christmas time is a magic one.

You never know what will come to be until it’s all done!

Watching: The Christmas Calendar

I just got done watching probably one of the cutest and most romantic Christmas movies I’ve watched. It has everything I love about a good romantic Christmas movie magic, curiosity, adorable moments, and absolute wonder. Christmas is the most magical time of the year. Falling in love during that time sounds like another kind of magic.

Emily receives a Christmas Calendar with little notes from a secret admirer. The whole town gets involved as each day the mystery unravels itself and everyone is wondering who is the guy? Overall, the concept is adorable. Who wouldn’t want to be wooed in such a creative and romantic way.

All the while a new baker comes to town and enters competition with Emily and sparks start to fly. It awoke the part of me that deeply desires to love and be loved. When the two were baking together and having a great time I wondered what I’d be like to have that one day with the person I spend my life with. I’m barely decent at baking so It’d be messier and more about figuring it out together, but I love that idea more.

Watching this I just felt that something in me light up that loves to love and deeply wants to spend my life having fun and learning and growing together with someone I love and who feels every ounce of that love for me as well. Something gentle and soft and kind. Something peaceful. Something I’ve tasted before and fell way too short.

Love is at the beating heart of what Christmas is to me. Love for your family. For your neighbors. Love for the people you work with. Love for those you like and those you don’t. And yes romantic love too.

This romantic little story does what every good Christmas film should, it inspires hope. It gives you all the warm and fuzzy feelings about what could and will be. One day, it’s fun to think about, what a Christmas would look like beside the guy that holds my heart. So I hold hope in my heart for that one day and all the one days that will come after.

What I also loved about the film was the mischievous actions from some of the characters that added a little spice and hilarity to the film. Some people live to cause chaos and having those chinks in the film was a lot of fun.

Happy 4th of July!!

Typically, I’m not the most patriotic person out there. However, on July 4th, I like to forget about all the things that have been upsetting me about this country and our current president and remember how far we’ve come and to think about some of the things that make me proud.

This year, I’m working on this day, but on the drive home I’m sure I’ll see some fireworks in the sky and marvel at explosives being used for something beautiful.

America has a complicated history. It was built from terror, battles, and a sense of conquering. It’s not a happy history, but we can choose to make America better by being better as people and treating others with respect and reflecting that with the laws we choose to vote for and the causes we choose to advocate for.

On a lighter and mildly interesting note: I found out if you search for 4th of July on an IPhone, fireworks appear from the bottom of the screen.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a happy and safe 4th of July. I hope you all eat some great food and spend some good times with family and friends.
