A Productive November

November is going to be an incredibly productive month for me. Not just because I will be going back to work, but also because I will be participating in Nanowrimo!

Goals for the month of November:

Write the two reviews I’m behind on: I still need to review Wilder Girls and The Stranger. Two books I have polar opposite feelings on, but I should get that done first thing this month so that should go well.

Draft 50,000 words for Nanowrimo!: I’m doing a Christmas fantasy project just for the fun of it. It’s an expansion on a short story I wrote for Christmas a previous year and I wanted to make an adorable Christmas book full of joy.

Continuing Chole Ting’s 2018 Summer Shred: I am on day 11 of this challenge and it’s the best I’ve done during one of her workout series so far and I’m hoping to keep the momentum going!

Get to level 220 on Fortnite! So I just got fortnite back and I’m on level 75. I’m hoping that by the end of the season I can get to the level 220 mark for the sake of holo marvel skins. Which means I have to gain about 5 levels a day from here on out. Which will prove to be challenging. Especially considering all else I want to do, but if I do complete this I will honestly feel like a damn goddess.

Make some dessert or food for thanksgiving. I want to make something nice as a part of Thanksgiving this year. I don’t know what that will be just yet, but I have some time to think about it.

Read some books! At the moment my tbr is looking like: Burn Our Bodies Down, The Miseducation of Cameron Post, and Crazy House. We’ll see at the end of the month if I pick up anything else!

That’s all for my goals for this month! What are some of yours?

My Horror Movie Triple Feature

I have been in the biggest horror movie mood lately and it’s been the best. Today I took advantage of all of it by doing a horror movie triple feature. Well somewhat quadruple feature cause I’m watching one more as I write this, but ultimately it’s been amazing!

You’re Next

This movie was amazing! I loved Erin and I loved the plot. It was super intense and I didn’t know the twist before it happened. Well, the initial one, but gosh it was so cool!

The Adams Family

Gosh this was adorable and I loved it so much! I loved the story it was so cute. The art was so awesome. The nostalgia felt great too. It was funny and made me feel the full on Halloween feeling and it’s just amazing.

Zombieland

This also was a really cute and fun movie. All I can think is “Get Tallahassee a Twinkie!”. It’s fun and still spooky in its own way. I really enjoyed it. It made me laugh.

While I’m writing this I’m watching the second movie and so far it’s great too. Today’s been so much fun. The blonde is crazy, but very funny. The flirting is so weird, but I love it.

September Goals

September is a month I’m really focusing on setting achievable goals for each day and commuting to them. Some things I want to try to do daily and other things will be just for that day. I wanted to start on a lot of the daily things I wanted to incorporate today, but ultimately that didn’t happen. Instead, me and my family went out to do some important errands and did a little shopping and then went to get the car cleaned and so by the end I deemed that today not the time to jump into a bunch of stuff that I simply wouldn’t be able to finish in my state.

So my one thing for today is looking for a better hair care routine and it’s been more difficult to try and find something good for me then I thought and there’s so much information that I’m lost. I have dandruff issues and coarse straight hair. Finding something that would help out my scalp health and also help the health of my hair and smooth it out and make it shiny is a task.

This month I also know of two books I want to finish and review and I’m almost done with both so that’s a blessing.

The first of which is ‘So You Want To Talk About Race’ by Ijeoma Oluo!

I want to continue educating myself on issues of race and how I can help with dismantling issues of racism starting with a look at myself, my privilege as a white woman, and my biases. Reading this book so far has helped me understand a few situations that I didn’t quite grasp before and re-introduced me to concepts I had looked into in the past. I’m excited to finish it! It’s been a great read so far.

The second book is an advanced readers copy that I’m very much behind on called ‘The Lost City’ by Amanda Hocking.

I’m exactly the same amount through with it as I am in ‘So You Want To Talk About Race’ at 61% percent through. This book so far has been interesting, but definitely not nearly on the same level as ‘So You Want To Talk About Race’, but they are so different in topic and everything else they are pretty incomparable. I do think this book is cute. But, I am kind of sad that there really hasn’t been much movement in it yet. A bunch of searching for her history and figuring out who exactly this friend is that the kid she’s taking care of brought to their apartment with her.

I do want to do some drawing this month. Also some language learning and math learning as well. I’m a bit of a nerd so I like to go on Khan Academy and see how many lessons I can do in 30 minutes. It keeps my mind going and feeds the part of me that misses school.

I want to post daily on the blog as much as I can. It’s nice to share my thoughts like this again. I’ve missed it.

I AM going to be writing as much as I can towards my first draft this month. I was going to write today, but by now it’s a little late for that. So, hopefully tomorrow.

I am also going to be starting a daily exercise routine. Mixing days doing this really cool and fun 30 day challenge of doing shuffle dances and redoing a basic yoga routine. I’d stoped exercising for a while cause I needed to protect my arm cause I got the birth control implant! Which I’m really happy about and let me know if you have any questions about that or if your interested in me doing a post about my experiences being on it so far. I’d love to share!

So yee! This month I have a ton of stuff planned. Lots of different things I’m going to do in so many different areas. I’m happy about all of them and I can’t wait to share how things went at the end of the month!

Standing With the Trans Community

This has been a month of learning. A month of listening and gathering and it is something I will continue to be doing throughout the rest of my life.

It’s now becoming common knowledge that J.K. Rowling is transphobic. Her words have caused immense harm for the trans community. Her works both under J.K. Rowling and Robert Galbraith further her ideals against Trans people. It’s disgusting and I cannot support her.

Trans rights are a human rights issue. They matter. They are beautiful, valid, and incredible human beings. And not only does narratives that Jk Rowling/Robert Galbraith promotes hurt trans lives, but non-binary lives too.

The narrative of trans people being predatory is despicable and plane out false. It is that fear that makes people think it’s ok to kill and commit violence against trans people and it needs to be stopped. I also feel the need to say that as in the terms of young people being tricked into being trans. Which again is a disgusting narrative that is not ok.

I ask every single person reading this to educated yourselves. Listen, learn, and amplify trans voices. Take the money you’d use to buy one of Rowling’s/Galbraith’s books and put it towards supporting the trans community. Buy books by trans authors. Donate to the Trevor Project.

Trans people deserve to be loved. To be accepted as the men and women that they are. Non-Binary people deserve to be loved and accepted for the wonderful human beings that they are.

Check your twitter. Do you follow Jk Rowling and/or Robert Galbraith… unfollow them and follow instead trans authors like Akwaeke Emezi, Aiden Thomas, and non-binary author Anna-Marie McLemore. Support the voices of those who have been targeted by hate. Lift them up. Show them support. Show them that your space is a safe space for them.

This isn’t the time for silence. It is the time for change. To stand up for human rights and equality for all.

My Current TBR: May 2020

It’s only May 4th and already I’ve read three books! Glow, Monstress Vol. 1, and P.S. I Still Love you. I’ve been killing it already this month and I have so many more amazing books to read.

I’ve only mentioned it once before, but the way I pick my TBR is that I have a book for review and then I have all my personally owned books in a tbr document that I put into a random word picker to get the book I will be reading. This way I’m reading both books I own and my review books at a steady rate. What I appreciate about this system is that having my personal books being randomly picked means I don’t prioritize books I just bought over books that have been on my shelves for ages. Everything gets equal opportunity to be picked.

On to the tbr!

The Grace Year September 17th

Horns

The Orchid Throne September 24th

Witchmark

Diamond City Jan 28 2020

Luna new moon

Jack Keri is dead to me April 7th 2020

Pride and Prejudice

Orchid Unshaken Diana’s release

1984

The miseducation of Cameron Post (friend’s Christmas gift to me)

Replica

The Orchid Throne may 26th

Glass sword

The Fiery Crown Netgalley

Flame in the mist

The Lost City Netgalley

Crazy house

The Morning Flower Netgalley

All the birds in the sky

It came from the sky Netgalley

All rights reserved

Little Creeping things Netgalley

Me Before You

What I love about this tbr is how mixed it is. From classics to Romance to a lot of fantasy, but also some thrillers and Sci-fi. I love all genres and having them reflect in my tbr as random as it is brings me joy.

I have to say I’m most excited to read Jack Kerouac is Dead to me and The Miseducation of Cameron Post. Jack because I love Gae Polishner with all my heart and Post because I can’t wait to discuss it with the friend that got it for me.

As my Netgalley reads come in I add to the list and since I’ve started doing this for my tbr I’ve had so much fun! I don’t know if I’ll get to all of these books in this month, but I can’t wait to see where I end with once May finishes! I’m looking forward to the rest of the month.

I wish you all happy reading in May!

Reclaiming Authenticity: What this Year has been About for me so Far

It’s only been four months into 2020 and so much in my life has changed. Things I thought were real turned out to be lies. I’ve found myself growing more friendships then I have in my entire life. Found someone really special that I care about very much. Learned so much about myself and healed so much that I didn’t realize was still hurting me.

Then, this weekend Y’all West happened and I realized just how much I’ve missed books. I hadn’t felt that passion for books and the community and reading and writing in ages. I felt freed once more. Last year was one where I was in deep pain and I felt like nothing mattered at all and I was desperate to just take care of myself. Now, now I feel like I’m ready to move forward again. To be myself again to the full extent that I was always meant to.

It’s been so crazy because I’ve had to face my fears so head on with all that’s come to pass with Quarantine and my dad being at risk with his cancer and just that fear when I went to the store no longer having a car only able to carry what we had in our hands and seeing almost nothing we could use for food on the shelves. I panic messaged my partner in crime and he helped me stay sane in the face of such insanity.

I’ve realized that this year has been all about reclaiming the heart of who I am again. Realizing that I am capable and that I can deal with the difficulties and not make them define who I am. That I can let things go and find ways to be authentic to who I am and my wants and not feel guilty for wanting them.

I couldn’t read or write for so long cause it was such a deep reminder of pain and I couldn’t deal with it. The end of last year I reclaimed my happiness. Now it’s time to reclaim my passion and my authenticity. I know myself very well. Taking a year of just thinking and wondering and you end up learning more about yourself then you ever knew.

My day to day path forward is now so clear to me. I feel so much better and so much more capable then I’ve ever felt. I feel like I can be myself. That I can do what I need to to be happy. To tell stories again. My heart is literally soaring right now. I feel so amazed to be here. I’m just happy to be alive.

January 2020 Goals

I have very few goals for this month and all are pretty straightforward, but the biggest and the main one is to have as much fun as possible. Whatever I’m doing, I’m just going to have fun. I’ve learned how to do this at work and everywhere I go and my happiness has improved so much because of it.

My other goals are

1. To save at least $20 towards buying a fold out piano because I want to learn to play piano

2. To write 10,000 words towards a writing project.

3. To learn some sort of dance choreography/ tutting

That’s it. Everything else is just to have fun. I don’t know what it’s going to look like. I don’t really mind what form it takes. I just want to start off my 2020 having fun.

I’m so excited for the new year! It’s going to be fantastic. I’m smiling now as I write this. I have this feeling in my bones that this year is going to be just wonderful. I can’t wait!

I Welcome 2020!

I am so excited for the new year! I can’t really describe it. I’m so joyful in where I’m at that I’m just happy and excited knowing that the best that the world has to offer will come in the new year. I felt that way at work yesterday. I was suddenly this blissful happy person and I was excited. It felt like I’d taken a pill or something, but I hadn’t. I just felt really good.

I know 2020 is going to be an incredible year, because I feel so good right now. That and that it will be my dominate wish for the new year and every year after to find and experience as much joy as possible in each and every moment.

There is no real goal that I have set for 2020. I don’t really care for resolutions. Especially because they always seem to drop off pretty quickly. Plus, what you want for yourself is continually changing as you grow and change. So I don’t like to have a set thing that must happen in the new year.

However, I do want to set some sort of arbitrary goal each month. To learn something new or to do something fun that I hadn’t yet tried. Also, to write. To set some obtainable writing goals and to have fun writing.

With writing sometimes I feel I get weird about it, because I expect too much of myself when it comes to writing. Yet, when I take some time to sit down and write the words flow. It’s always there and easy to tap into. It’s breaking through that initial wall that I’ve got to work on. So I’ll probably make some sort of goal around that.

Either way, I’ll be making a January goals post tomorrow that will be a little more detailed as far as what I want to do in that month. I’m just so excited! So excited to live life. To follow my joy. Ever since I first decided to do so it’s gotten easier and easier and it feels incredible!

I wish everyone the best possible year ahead you can have. I wish you all the greatest happiness you can muster in the new year. I wish everyone to feel as good as possible in the new year.

In this moment I feel such joy, love, and warmth in my heart. I’m so excited to dance, play, and have fun in the new year. It’s going to be the best yet!

Welcome to 2020! Cheers to a year to remember! A year of transformation. A year where we live the life we’ve always wanted to live!

Books of Christmas Future

In the future, I wonder what I will see?

Underneath my Christmas tree.

Will there be wars fought and treaties won?

Will there be hearts coming together in spite of it all?

Will there be cyber bodies risking it to the end?

Will there be magic with a reality twist?

Will there be horrors to celebrate?
Or will there be trips to the past that we can’t escape?

Will there be stories of contemporary connections?

And will there be other points of view to consider?

I know that whatever it is to be the case, I will love all the books that come my way!

Christmas time is a magic one.

You never know what will come to be until it’s all done!

Marvel Phase 4 Timeline!!!

At this years Comic Con Marvel announced its Phase 4 timeline and I am so ready for some more great films to enter the MCU!

1st up May 1st, 2020 is Black Widow!

I’m so excited for this! After the events of Endgame I’m so curious about how they are going to go about Black Widow’s storyline.

November 6th, 2020 Eternals

I don’t know much of anything about the Eternals, but I am very intrigued by any films in the MCU having more of a space setting and I’m excited to watch it!

February 12th, 2021 Shang-Chi: The Legend of the Ten Rings

I love seeing martial arts fights and I’m very excited to see a diverse character coming into the marvel mix.

May 7th, 2021 Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness

I loved the first Doctor Strange movie! It was inceptionesque, but in a way I enjoyed so much more then inception. I am excited to see what they do with his second film!

November 5th, 2021 Thor: Love and Thunder

They are having Natalie Portman play a female version of Thor and not necessarily the role of Jane Foster which is… interesting. I’m very intrigued by this film and will probably be a little hesitant about it Till I see it, but I’m excited for it all the same!

As, for the rest of the titles shown here, they are all the new TV shows that will be airing as a part of the marvel universe, however, I’m not sure when I will watch these or if I’ll be able to as they are all streaming on Disney+ which I may or may not have in the future. But, I’m really excited for Loki and Wanda Vision! If I get the chance to see those I think I’m going to really love them.

Thanks for reading! Let me know your thoughts down in the comments below.
