30 Days of Drawing Challenge

One of the things in my life I have always wished I was good at was being able to draw. I grew up being known as someone who was bad at it.. hopeless even, but after encouragement from some special people in my life I gave it a shot. A bit later I decided to take on this 30 day challenge. I gotta say I’m proud of how things turned out!

At the end of this challenge I am surprised at how fast I improved. There are certainly pieces I drew that I love more then others, but I’m just really proud that I got to this point at all. Childhood me is so happy at the moment. She’d be incredibly happy with how far I’ve come.

A Book a Day.. Till I Catch Up

I have been quiet for a while. I’ve mostly been focused on taking care to ground myself and take care of my mental health. Most of the time, I’d be very open about what I’m going through and the mental hurtles I have been facing, but I realized I needed time in my own head without worrying about others for a while. But, that also meant that I have been taking a lot of time to rest and stay stagnant for a while. Instead of reading I’ve been watching movies and YouTube videos and I’ve let myself move forward at my own pace.

I’ve had to learn to be ok without making forward progress for a while. It seemed every time I tried to move forward at the same pace as I have before, and I end up burning myself out really easily. So, I’ve just been as gentle with myself as I could and let myself heal as much as I needed to.

However, that meant that every once in a while I’d want to move forward and I’d think I had the strength to and a new obstacle would appear. Now, I think I’m finally in a strong enough mental state to move forward and to not let any sort of obstacle bring me down.

But, I am working from being behind. I have quite a few books that I have for review and I want to complete reading them before taking on any sort of writing or other projects. So I’m going to do something I did for a while in 2017. Which was to read a book a day. I know this can be something that burns me out, but I only plan on doing this till I catch up and can start reading the books on my shelves that I’ve been wanting to read for ages and haven’t been able to due to the books I need to read for review.

So I’m going to do this till all my review copies have been read and reviewed so that I can move forward fresh and with ability to read and do things at my own pace after. That way I won’t get to where I build up too many review copies to read again.

I know that means my marvel series is going to have to wait for a little bit, but I need to feel like I’m back in action and steadily progressing once more. So that’s what I’m going to do.

The Raven Book Crate: Progress is Happening!!

Hello everyone!!

I’m so excited because as each day passes more and more progress is happening and I’m happy to share some of it with you all!

As of right now, I have finalized what my create will consist of and have figured out the books that will be included for the first 5 months!!!

For those of you that are wondering about specifics regarding the crate here are the things you need to know:

The Raven Book Crate is a young adult book subscription box that will include:

  • 2 books (1 will always be a recent release) (both books will always complement each other in some way)
  • 1 bookish Candle from The Candle Caffe
  • Author letter/swag
  • Other mysterious items related to the theme of the month.

For those of you wondering about cost know that it will be:

$38.99 per month for a month to month subscription

$113.97 every 3 months for a trimonthly based subscription

$221.94 every 6 months for a half a year subscription

The first box will launch in August and my website will be up on Crate joy to order in July.

Teasers for the August Crate:

I can’t announce the theme just yet but as a little hint the two books I will be complementary opposites in a unique way. I will also reveal that both novels are diverse in different ways as well (having some diverse novels in my first ever crate feels awesome!)

I have spoken with one of the authors and there will be some awesome author swag coming your way!

As far as the scent of the bookish candle… let’s just say it will take you somewhere far far away.

Thank you all for reading! I hope you enjoyed this tiny taste into what will be going into my crate! Let me know your thoughts about this and any suggestions that you may have! Just a few weeks ago and this was simply a thought that held me and never let go and now I’m 3 months away from my first launch! I can’t wait to see where this business takes me and I hope to update you all on The Raven Book Crate’s progress as things move along.

-Till next time!
