Synopsis:
Paige Mahoney has escaped the brutal penal colony of Sheol I, but her problems have only just begun: many of the fugitives are still missing and she is the most wanted person in London.
As Scion turns its all-seeing eye on Paige, the mime-lords and mime-queens of the city’s gangs are invited to a rare meeting of the Unnatural Assembly. Jaxon Hall and his Seven Seals prepare to take center stage, but there are bitter fault lines running through the clairvoyant community and dark secrets around every corner.
Then the Rephaim begin crawling out from the shadows. But where is Warden? Paige must keep moving, from Seven Dials to Grub Street to the secret catacombs of Camden, until the fate of the underworld can be decided. Will Paige know who to trust? The hunt for the dreamwalker is on.
Musings:
What a perfect book this was in terms of setting up and igniting a mighty revolution. I was burning for this book and I absolutely loved it. There was fire and intensity and political intrigue. This book definitely had down that some things are better left unsaid (or rather some things must be left unsaid or you may loose your head).
Paige is an incredible character to follow, because in this book you truly see her mental, physical, and emotional strength flourish. Not only does her gift grow in this novel, but she does as well and it was a joy to watch. Paige had to make so many hard decisions in this novel and it made my hear ache to see how things turned around. Especially that ending that I’m so mad I didn’t see coming…
There was so much awesome animosity in this book. So much tension between characters that I felt it deep in my heart. The dialogue was so so well-written, which is something that I usually don’t talk about. I felt it when Paige wanted to say more then she was letting on and when she pushed down anger in exchange for bidding her time. It was absolutely brilliantly done.
Then when Warden finally came back I was so elated! He is the definition of swoonworthy and I can’t wait to see how his relationship with Paige blossoms in the future. Just remembering some of their scenes together in this book puts a smile on my face. They work together so well.
If you haven’t read The Bone Season, go read it, and then immediately after pick up The Mime Order. This series needs to be talked about more. I am so excited to get my hands on book three!
-Till next time!
