Shakespeare intrigues me. He intrigues me in the way that if he was alive today I would befriend him and find that he is probably the mixture of a geek and a dork and I would love that. I say this because from my minimal experience of his work has lead me to that conclusion. He seems to lack a bit of tact though he is not without wit and he has a sense of humor about him.
This Sonnet is the embodiment of who I believe Shakespeare to be. He teases his love in this peace and in no small way I adore him for it. The couples I love tend to tease one another in this sort of way and it feels so warm to me to think that Shakespeare acted in this way as well.
Thank you all for reading! Let me know your thoughts in the comments. I know this is a bit of a weird post, but I’ve been thinking about mister Shakespeare quite a bit lately and this was one of the things I would think about most.
Also I’m curious, what are your thoughts on Romeo and Juliet? I haven’t read it, but I’m on the fence about weather or not I should give it a chance.
-Till next time!
Cool stuff! Totally agree with you about the Shakespeare part. You’ve got my follow. Check out my comedy blog and give it a follow if you like it!

This is not a weird post at all! I recently discovered Faulkner and this is how I feel about him too! I haven’t read Romeo & Juliet either, except for excerpts! We really should read it haha.😁

Right? I haven’t read much of anything from Faulkner but it is interesting that you feel similarly about him as I do about Shakespeare. I’m glad this isn’t the weird post I thought it was.

Shakespeare’s sonnets are so much fun, and I think this is the most famous one! I love #14 😀 Gorgeous picture, thank you!

* I particularly love #14, but they’re all amazing and, as you said, show sides of Shakespeare’s personality, such as his playfulness or soulfulness…

You should, it’s similar to this in the way where it’s like ‘you’re perfectly imperfect’, but just slightly cliche… but still awesome 😀

I’ve read and really like some of his plays, but haven’t read many sonnets in general. But I came across this one a few years ago in class and it’s now one of my favs ☺ As for Romeo and Juliet I have to say that on a personal level it wasn’t at all for me. Even so I’d still say to give it a try and see for yourself if you’d like to keep at it.

I’m glad you enjoyed some of his plays! This Sonnet in particular is a fun one. I’m definitely leaning towards reading r&j and seeing if I like it for myself.

I think Shakespeare was a great wit, certainly! And Romeo and Juliet is wonderful- but I do recommend, with all Shakespeare’s plays, to watch them rather than read them- Baz Luhrmann’s version is very good- even if it’s abridged!

Thank you for the recommendation! I will certainly take that into account. Hopefully I can get to watching it in the future!

This is such an interesting post. My favourite sonnet is 18 which actually compares to sonnet 130 really well. If you haven’t read that sonnet I suggest you do. I have a feeling that you’ll like that one 🙂 Keep up the interesting blog posts.
